iDOCr Council was formed based on a collective belief that by involving people touched by diabetes and their caregivers, and other under represented and/or underserved groups in medical and behavioral research, we can help inform patients of their treatment choices and, ultimately, improve health outcomes.

Our Mission

  • To engage people touched by diabetes and other under represented and/or underserved groups in medical and health services research related to diabetes.
  • To focus our research efforts on investigating the effect of online peer support in comparison to other treatments on the day-to-day self-management of diabetes.
  • To share the results of our research regarding online peer support with people touched by diabetes, medical professionals, policymakers, and others in the hope that our research will influence medical practice & policy.

Our Strategy

iDOCr will focus our research efforts on investigating the effect of treatment combined with online peer support, in comparison to other treatments, on diabetes outcomes. We will share the results of our research with people touched by diabetes, medical professionals, researchers, policymakers, and others in the hope that our research will influence medical practice & policy. The iDOCr Council includes English- and Spanish-speaking DOC members with type 1 diabetes and T2D, advocates, clinicians, caregivers, academics, non-profits, industry, and researchers.
